The Scientific Program Committee of SOGP 2012 invites all interested individuals to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. Abstracts on any topics relevant to women’s health are welcome. The deadline of abstract submission is   extended to February 29th, 2012. On-line submission through the email: sogp14bicon@gmail.com is welcomed.

Abstract Review

Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee and selected for oral or poster presentation based on the following criteria:

  • Topics of general or local interest
  • New research findings
  • Use of new ideas, techniques in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Novel topics in the development of the relevant fields related to women's health

Format of Presentation

All abstracts should be submitted under either the “Oral” or the “Poster” options.

Oral Presentation

Selected abstracts for oral presentation will be presented at the congress according to the topic fields.

Poster Presentation

Some abstracts that are either chosen by the author to be presented in poster presentation or are not selected for oral presentation will be considered for poster presentation. This will allow presenters to discuss their research with other colleagues in the display areas.


Guidelines for Abstract Preparation

  • Anyone who is interested in abstract submission should access the SOGP 2012 official website (http://www.sogp.org) and submit abstracts on-line no later than February 29th, 2012.
  • If on-line submission is not available, please contact the Conference Secretariat (sogp14bicon@gmail.com). Your abstracts should be prepared according to the ‘Typing Instructions’ on the next page.
  • An acknowledgement of receipt of abstract will be sent to the presenting author by e-mail upon on-line submission. For other types of submission, acknowledgement will be sent by congress secretariat via e-mail or fax.
  • Acceptance to either oral or poster presentations is at the discretion of the Organizing Committee and notification will be sent to the presenting author by e-mail no later than April 10, 2012.
  • Upon acceptance of the abstract, authors are expected to register and to present their abstracts at Oral/Poster Presentations. Abstracts will be published in the congress abstract book only if at least one of the listed authors is officially registered with full payment by April 20, 2012
  • After abstract submission, if there is any further modification, you will be charged PKR 5000/- handling fee; the payment should be made upon your arrival. In cash & a reciept will be issued to you.
  • Accepted abstracts will be included in a USB flash drive, exactly in the form and conditions submitted by the authors. Therefore the authors are advised to strictly follow the typing instructions.

Typing Instructions

These instructions are designed to assist you for preparing your abstract. It provides all the information you need to comply with the submission standards of SOGP 2012.

1. Title

The abstract should be less than 300 words. It should be typed in 12pt Times New Roman in English. The body of the text should commence 2 lines below the last author affiliation. Type the text single spaced with no indentations.

2. Author

Author names should be written in 12pt bold. Full given names should precede the family name. The presenting author must be listed first and underlined. For any unforeseen changes to presenters, the replacement presenter must be one of the authors listed in the abstract. The author list should commence 1 line below the title. The presenting author and up to a maximum of 9 co-authors will be listed in the authors’ index of the program as well as on the abstract headline. The maximum number of authors is limited to 10.

3. Author Affiliations

Author affiliations (institution, city and country) should be in 12pt and separated by semicolons. Authors from different institutions should be identified by superscript indices at the end of each author’s name and at the beginning of each institution

4. Abstract Text

The abstract should be less than 300 words. It should be typed in 12pt Times New Roman in English. The body of the text should commence 2 lines below the last author affiliation. Type the text single spaced with no indentations.

1). Headings: The headings of “Objectives”, “Methods”, “Results” and “Conclusions” should be in bold as shown in the “Sample” below.

2). Abbreviations: The use of standard abbreviations is acceptable. Other abbreviations should be placed in parentheses after the first appearance of the full description for which it stands.

5. File Name

The abstract filename must contain the topic code and be followed by the full name of the presenting author, which is “Topic No.-Subtopic No._FirstName_LastName”. For example, the abstract for the subtopic “Abortion & Ectopic pregnancy” under the first topic “General Gynecology”, would appear like this: 1-3_Rizwana chaudhry
